My Thought Leadership Journey
My thought leadership journey, particularly as a black person, neurodivergent, LGBTQAI+, immigrant, and middle-aged, has been deeply intertwined with my commitment to neurodiversity, inclusion, and belonging. Being part of several communities that have historically faced barriers, I understand the importance of creating environments where everyone, regardless of who they are, belong.
My neurodivergent identity has helped me to be innovative, curious, and resilient. I've experienced firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with thinking and processing the world differently. It has highlighted the critical need for environments; be it in workplaces, educational settings, or social spaces—that not only accommodate but genuinely value and leverage the unique perspectives and abilities neurodiverse individuals bring.My perspective and experience as a black cis-woman has deeply influenced specific challenges and barriers that come with racial and gender stereotypes, fostering in me a profound understanding of the importance of intersectionality in inclusivity efforts. My LGBTQ identity, has opened my eyes to the myriad ways in which people can be marginalized or overlooked simply for being who they are and who they love. It's taught me the importance of creating spaces where everyone is free to express their true selves without fear of judgment or exclusion.Embracing my identity as a middle-aged woman in the realm of thought leadership has imbued me with a unique perspective on resilience, growth, and the value of diverse voices in any field. This part of my identity has shown me the strength that comes from years of experiencing and navigating the world's complexities.
