The Art of Single-Tasking

Hey there! I totally get what you mean about the whole multitasking thing. It's like, everyone's always talking about how great it is to juggle a million things at once, but for those of us with ADHD brains, it can be a total nightmare! We end up feeling super overwhelmed and our productivity takes a nosedive.

But you know what? There's this awesome strategy called "The Art of Single-Tasking" that's like a secret weapon for ADHD minds. Instead of trying to do everything at once, you just focus on one thing at a time. And here's the best part: it actually plays to our strengths!

You know how sometimes we can get really, really into something and tune out the rest of the world? That's called hyperfocus, and single-tasking totally taps into that superpower.

So, how do you make single-tasking work for you?

First off, you gotta prioritize. Every morning or whenever you start working, take a look at your to-do list and pick the most important or trickiest task. That way, you're giving your best energy and focus to the stuff that really counts.

Next up, create a space that helps you concentrate. Get rid of any distractions that might pull your attention away from what you're doing. For me, it’s the snacks and Daenerys…lol!  Let the people around you know when you need to focus, so they don't accidentally interrupt your flow.

Oh, and here's a pro tip: use timers to break your work into chunks. There's this thing called the Pomodoro Technique where you work for a set amount of time (usually 25 minutes), then take a quick break. It's like giving your brain little rest stops so you don't get burnt out.

When you find yourself in the zone, really lean into it! Let that ADHD hyperfocus work its magic and help you crush your task. And when it's time to move on to something else, give yourself a moment to switch gears mentally.

The Art of Single-Tasking; an ADHD-friendly approach to getting things done without the overwhelm. Give it a try and see how it works for you! Let me know.
